Mark Mesler, Esq.

Mark Mesler is Senior Counsel at Asbury Law Firm. He is a retired Principal at Ernst & Young where he led the firm’s Tax Controversy practice for the Central and Southeast U.S. He has 35+ years of experience working with the IRS in all matters, from the defense of the transfer pricing disputes to the abatement of penalties asserted against individuals.


In 2000, Mark joined Ernst & Young as a Tax Controversy specialist. Mark often represented Fortune 500 companies in examinations and appeals and provided strategies to all types of clients on how to resolve their tax controversies without litigation. Mark also advised clients on corporate reporting requirements for disputed tax positions. From 2013 to 2015 Mark was a member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council and served as Chair of the Large Business & International sub-group of IRSAC.


Before joining Ernst & Young Mark served as a trial attorney for IRS Chief Counsel. There he specialized in litigation ranging from large corporate entities to individual taxpayers, representing the agency before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. During his tenure at IRS Chief Counsel Mark also was designated a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
